Nice accommodation but no boutique stay
Upon our arrival we were picked up from the airport, which is also a service of the hotel. The driver, who also works at the hotel, then showed us our really nice room. But nobody else was present.
That there is a filter for drinking water in the kitchen that you can use, we only learned the next day at breakfast.
The ladies who take care of breakfast are also very friendly and very at pains, but also very limited in what they are allowed to offer. We stayed almost a week at Avani and from the looks of the pictures on the website, so breakfast is not (more?). There was a choice every day between toast with egg, jam or Kellogs and coffee. There was no tea, juices, fruit or other breakfast options.
The rooms are beautifully designed, and each has its own terrace. But here too, the description of the website differs somewhat from reality. Located in a small valley where you are close to nature, that is not true. From each room you unfortunately have a view of a large piled-up construction site storage area (this is how it looks). In a few years, if this is more overgrown with trees, certainly a nice place.
Unfortunately, we also had no hot water throughout the stay.
All in all, the Avani is a place with a lot of potential and very nice staff. However, in my opinion the current price-performance is out of proportion. It was one of the most expensive places. I understand that we are on an island, but by a boutique stay I understand and expect something else.
Adapting the website to the current concept would be helpful, in my opinion, to adapt expectations to the current reality.
