An atmospheric riad hostel with excellent value for money.
The hostel is the best experience in Fes. Karim was an excellent host and always helped when needed. The hostel itself is a traditional riad-style building, so it's worth considering that when booking. The hostel was perfect value for money. I had hoped for a bunk bed, but since there wasn't one available and a private room was available instead, I was able to sleep there. The breakfast was good for the price and tea was often served for free. The only downside is that it was difficult to see the instructions to the hostel in the dark, but on the other hand Karim sent video instructions on how to get to the hostel, so that made it a lot easier.

Don’t come here
Normally, I don’t write bad reviews but this time I have to. The host was very rude and did not welcome me properly. Then, the bed had cigarette and burn marks. I stayed in the female dorm, which has a private bathroom enclosed. Not only did the bathroom look like it hasn’t been cleaned in at least two weeks, it also stank terribly and the door couldn’t be closed from the outside.
Then when I got up the next morning to get breakfast, which had been included with my booking, there was no one. I waited for half an hour after they were supposed to serve breakfast with four other people and no one showed up. Later they claimed, it would have been available but he did not see anyone waiting.
When I wanted to solve the issue the owner responded very rudely and almost aggressive.
Apparently to clear the issue, he then entered the female dorm without knocking. I wanted to book the laundry service. I had to remind them multiple times and when they finally gave me a basket they wanted to wash my white shirts with my black pants, which is an absolute no go.
When I asked about receiving my money back for the breakfast he responded super rudely again. He told me I booked for very little money already and shouldn’t be stingy about the money.
At last, because he knew I was gonna give a bad review, he canceled the booking, even though I stayed for the full two nights.
For future travellers, please don’t come here. It is not a good experience and I was not alone. My fellow female travellers made the same experiences.

Bad atmosphere- hostile host- dirty hostel
I’m leaving a review despite it being clear I will get abuse back from the owner. I could not understand why they don’t have more bad reviews- but I do now (spoilers-they remove your booking if you complain)! Unfortunately I did not enjoy my stay here. Owner was intimidating and rude. Women’s bathroom smelt terrible (this is inside the bedroom). Roof top looks nice, but is very dirty and not like the photographs. Staff smoke/sleep in the common area all day and their is no real atmosphere anywhere. Pretty dead so that didn’t help, but even with meeting nice people I did not want to stay. I cut my stay short, and despite giving warning, I was charged my entire stay (because they claimed Booking.com will charge them anyway). When I mentioned the bathroom and the lack of breakfast, the manager became aggressive and hostile. Told me I was given an upgrade to the Women’s room- even though I was not given the choice. He said the sewage system in Fes is why the bathroom smells. Funny how no issues in the other bathrooms. The hostel then cancelled my stay on Booking.com, so they will pay no fees and I cannot leave a review!

Amazing vibes and great Owner!
I loved my stay here. I stayed at a Hostel just outside the Medina which was not a pleasant stay, and so I came here. The Owner Kareem is a legend, and Rhalia is a sweetheart.
The rooftop terrace has amazing views over the Medina, and with a seating area for tall the guests to socialise and drink.
I had such a fun, amazing time here that everyone felt like family after a week.
I will be back and try the 45 spices again :P

Very good hostel, in the middle of the medina and yet very quiet
Very nice hostel. When you enter you immediately enter the common area, the former courtyard of the riad, where it is so cozy that most travelers linger there to chat and consume their homemade or brought food and drink. The owner lives there and you can feel that he likes to spoil his guests. For example, with trips recommended and even arranged, and then a lot cheaper than they are offered online. The hostel is located in a dark, narrow cul-de-sac in the medina, for me, with my night blindness, that was a disadvantage, but for most people this gives the big advantage of being incredibly quiet, even though you are close to the crowds of the shops. An absolute must.
