Hostel, convenient in the center

I wanted something simple downtown without overdoing it and this was my decision, but let's be clear: it's a Hostel, not a hotel, so shared floor bathrooms (1 with only toilet, the other complete with shower and washing machine) structure not very recent although modernized, messy guests and doing worse than at home. With these premises I still found myself well because I used it only for its purpose, that is a minimum of breakfast, shower and toilet use, for the rest Riga turns quickly and in 1/2 days you saw everything. Easy to find structure and combination entrances (main door and floors), also shown on the key, steep stairs, clean, comfortable and tidy room, silence in the streets.
Breakfast with usual kettle or coffee maker, in the fridge there is something like juices, milk etc (left by guests or reinstated by the staff) while to eat bread like toast and Nutella (if there is, I found it). For me it was very convenient not to have to deal with various times because more free and because I had the bus early in the morning so ok.

Never got my money back!

I hope you never have problems with the owner!
First I had to write email after email to get a quite unfriendly answer, telling me I will leave them starving if I want my money back. After that I tried to -at least- get an correct voucher (i only recieved a voucher for half the price I payed before) - no more answers to my mails. thats not the way you should treat your clients.
Corona was hard for everyone (I lost my mother) - but you can at least sort things out and find solutions instead of stealing money and not answerting at all.

Location is very good

· Location is very good, right in the center of old Riga. Staff is friendly and hostel is clean and secure. Simple breakfast is available i.e. yogurt, cereal, milk and tea.
· Would have loved to have some bread available given the fact that there were toasters and jam available. Also a dustbin in the room would have been also better.

Don't reserve here

We were ripped off: They did not send us the code to collect the keys, and when we tried to call the owner, his phone was switched off, even when we called at the established time. In addition, they charged us in advance half the amount and refuse to return our money. Do not book this accommodation under any circumstances.

I'm giving it 3* only because of the food...

Let me make myself clear right away - there's food at your disposal at all times. It's not much - cereal, pudding, milk, jam, etc, but when everything around you is closed and you have no idea where to find a shop in the neighborhood, boy it sure is nice.
But GOD! That was by far the WORST night's sleep I've had all my life - and I mean it! I think I have some long-lasting consequences on my lower back and shoulders. There was literally (I swear I'm not exaggerating) a body indentation on my bed - which was more of a springs-covered-with-sheets than a bed. I actually had to fit my butt in the hole first, so that the rest of my body finds its way around it.
Location-wise, it's good. There are better-located and cheaper ones though.
The receptionist was one of the nicest people I'd met in Latvia.
