Warm hotel with strategic location

Our stay was exceptional! From the warm welcome to the check-out, everything was handled with care and attention. The apartment was spacious and clean, with a small terrace that gave us a little break of pure relaxation and pure magic.
The staff was always helpful and kind, especially Matteo, one of the receptionists, always kind, sunny and professional. The environment is very welcoming, bright and the location great, opposite the excavations of Herculaneum.
We really missed nothing and we fully enjoyed the stay, but with the feeling and comfort of home. We will definitely be back!

Here is a stronger 2-star version with the transport warning added:
The location is the main positive point of Hotel Herculaneum. It is very close to the Herculaneum archaeological site, which makes it convenient if that is the main reason for staying in Ercolano.
However, overall the stay was disappointing. The hotel worked as a basic one-night stop, but I would not rate it higher than that. The building also looks tired from the outside and could use a proper refresh.
I would not recommend using the hotel to arrange transport. In our experience, the extra cost and problems made it more expensive and less convenient than using a local Uber or arranging transport directly. Transport around Naples is not cheap in general, but even keeping that in mind, the hotel-arranged option did not feel like good value.
For us, the hotel was useful mainly because of the location, but I would probably choose somewhere else next time unless the only priority was being very close to Herculaneum.

Be prepared for many and slightly dangerous steps, some of them in steel on outside of building. Perhaps not so easy for the elderly, those with mobility challenges and those carrying heavy luggage. The room was very nice, though. Wifi didn't work so well.

Rooms are cleaned and attended to, however, due to poor ventilation there is evidence of black mold in the washroom.
Outdoor patio area, not tidy or appealing, glassware left from other guests, several bulbs burnt out on the patio, not attended to as to make it an area a guest would want to visit or hang out at.
Front staff, not very knowledgeable of attractions or events to guide a tourist.
Breakfast was well stocked and varied.
Natural on this place as it does only what is needed...minimum standards.
Over all appearance of the rooms, very authentic to the region. Lots of character in the rooms and spacious.

Bad experience

Checked in at the Hotel Herculaneum on May 29. Room was okay but not immediately the wow feeling.
The back of the hotel is located in a residential area right on the center.
Very much noise from singing and tipsy people, many barking dogs all night terrible!!
We spent the last two days of our beautiful Italy experience in a better hotel in Pompeii. We have communicated our displeasure to the travel company, we do not know if they can compensate anything with this.
