The Castle Hotel, Dublin Review

This hotel is in a great location for exploring Dublin. We stayed as a family of three and our family room was made up of two spacious linked rooms and a bathroom. The larger room had a double bed and the smaller room had a single bed. Both rooms had a TV and the larger room had a hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. There were plenty of sockets (both english and european) for charging phones etc. Our room and the hotel were clean and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We were not disturbed by noise even though we slept with the windows open and our room was above the road.
We were spoilt for choice for breakfast - full Irish breakfast served in the Vaults restaurant or a buffet which included fruit, pasties, cheese, meat, bread, yogurt and cereals in the Old Music room - you can even go to both. The hotel also offer a take out breakfast for those days you have an early start - we took advantage of this on the day we had an early start for a day trip.
We ate in the Vaults restaurant on numerous occasions and the food was very nice, the staff are lovely and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. We especially enjoyed the live traditional Irish music each night and the Irish dancing on the Friday and Saturday night. Every night is a different singer - they were all very good and very entertaining. All encouraged their audience to join in. We enjoyed the entertainment so much that we would go down to the restaurant for drinks if we had eaten elsewhere that evening.
Would definitely recommend this gem of a hotel, which is great value for money especially if you book with them direct. If we ever return to Dublin, we won't hesitate to stay here.

Castle Hotel with friends for United match

Stayed here for Man Utd match. Staff are great and super helpful and friendly. Rooms spot on. Breakfast is superb and waiting staff brilliant. Would definitely stay here again. If using the parking be aware it is very tight getting in to the parking spot and will need to get there early enough to get one. Staff and breakfast are the big pluses.

Can't wait to get back home

Good location for getting to the center but the room really doesn't deserve its price!
Small 55-inch bed, no fridge, no A/C just a vulgar fan and no possibility of opening the windows more than 4 inches to let air in, and let's not even talk about the street noise, thank you earplugs.
Breakfast is okay but nothing fantastic for a 4-star, I expected better!
In short, for me it's a 3-star, and I'm disappointed to have spent so much money on this hotel.

Disappointing

Very expensive hotel for the comfort it provides. Impossible to open the window more than 4 inches to air out the room, a poor fan that barely stays up to cool the room, the hallway light shines into the room because of the gap around the door. In short, if you want to sleep well and get some rest in Dublin, avoid this hotel!

nightmare turning into happy end

4 stars is the maximum we can give. after a long travel to ireland we arrived at midnight, hotel was not willing to arrange a pickup at the airport and we had to negotiate with the cab drivers the fair as if it was istanbul. the reception sent us two buildings further with our keys to the rooftop of a neighbour building with no aircondition, no fan, window closed. it was not possible to stay in that room without fainting. we told the reception to organize a fan left the hotel for a pub to chill. returning they dropped a fan in my hands instead of having it installed meanwhile and running. at this point the rating should be down to Zero as that lazy carelessness was an harsh offence. next morning i went to reception and explained em that it was not possible to stay in the second floor without lift and the washing sink was undersized with 4in x 10in. the friendly gentleman of that dayshift changed our room to groundfloor , with space to move and a real bathroom. he saved our honeymoon and the rating of castlehotel with its first appearance of a rathole. 100m wallk is public bus to the airport and 200m walk a total cool punk pub open all night with good music and beer
