A dream of a wedding at The Orphanage!

We got married in the orchard of Het Orphanage. A drink and dinner for our guests, who all stayed over. It was AMAZING. What a unique and special hotel. Our guests enjoyed it and so did we. Everything was arranged with great care, attention and attention by the team of Het Weeshuis, even the fantastic dinner. We are so grateful for these days. Thank you so much again!

Unwind in The Orphanage

A small but beautiful hotel. The rooms are equipped with2 rooms. A sleeping area and a living area. The bedroom has long beds, lovely pillows. Bathroom with walk-in shower is small but fine, lovely hot and hige shower for my husband of 1m94.
Living area has 2 relax armchairs with TV.
Breakfast downstairs is extensive.
And very!! friendly staff.

Bolsward

Our summer vacation went to Friesland this year. We stayed in Bolsward in the hotel 'Het Weeshuis'. We booked a garden room, located on the ground floor with a spacious bedroom, a cozy sitting area with TV, a bathroom and access to a spacious, green garden in which 2 donkeys were grazing. Every morning we were spoiled with breakfast. Several sandwiches, charcuterie, cheeses and a tasty fruit yogurt were already waiting for us on the table. We could also dine at the hotel but we were told that the chef prepares the same meal every night. 1 evening we enjoyed his cooking, the next evenings in the town of Bolsward we found restaurants 'Blend', 'De Wijnberg' and also an excellent Italian restaurant.
We explored Friesland by car, most tourists cycle between the eleven Frisian cities. The bike paths in Friesland are very good, separated from the roadway and of course completely flat. Our top picks in Friesland are Bolsward, Hindeloopen, Stavoren and the small towns (or are they villages) Sloten aan het Slotenmeer and hastiest.
Everywhere we were surrounded by cozy Dutch hospitality.

Not good enough

This is likely the best accommodation available in the charming town of Bolsward. And the hotel is charming and recently renovated to a high standard. The issue, however, is that the owners went for style over substance. The rooms look nice, the bed is comfortable but that’s where the comfort stops. The manager was very accommodating when I asked for extra pillows and towels, he even brought a mini fridge when we asked about it. But these things should have been in the room already. Our suite was roomy but too many of the requirements of comfort were overlooked. The sink is in the main room, which is ok, but there was not a single towel bar or hook. The shower has no shelves or soap dishes so your shampoo, shaver etc has to sit on the floor. Breakfast cost as much as the full buffet and hot options on offer everywhere else. However, it is a served breakfast of small portions. Everyone was very nice but our overall experience was not very comfortable for a 3 night stay.
