Hidden gems
We were staying on the island of Rhodes and decided to take a trip to Symi island. We were speaking to some people we met at our hotel who done a day trip and regretted not staying the night. We got a great deal on our stay which we booked with booking.com. From our initial booking we were contacted with all relevant information with checking in and some very helpful tips. During our 1 day stay we had a fantastic trip, it was busy during the day but still not over run. We visited Niki’s cook house along with other very good restaurants, but Nikis was the stand out. The island became very relaxed in the late afternoon when most of the day trippers left. This is a place we are planning on definitely returning to but bringing friends and family next time. It was the help and assistance from Kilmera from rh Symi Holidays made this for us.

The room was very clean and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The location was excellent, within walking distance of the clock tower.

A wonderful warm welcome from our host and a kind and friendly attitude from oyr cleaner really helped to make a special stay. The eoom was spotless and beautifully decorated. It was quite a small room and balcony but what it lacked in size it made up for in amenities. There was plenty of tea and coffee, and some bottled water. In the bathroombthere were free touletries imcluding new toothbrushes if you needed them. A sewing kit and ironing board along with hairdryer and netflix/amazon enabled tv and free Wi-Fi were all available too. From our bslcony we could see the sea and a couple of small fishing boats in one direction and the windmills in the other direction. Great location for all that Symi Port had to offer. Im very happy that we chose Marika's.

OK but not deluxe
If having a chandelier and a fancy painted ceiling in your room means deluxe then we are truly living in luxury. However the reality is much more basic than deluxe. We have a bed , a fridge and a bathroom. There's also a wardrobe with a couple of drawers in it. I've stayed in bigger hotel rooms at less cost. I was expecting some sort of kitchen facility but maybe I didn't read the small print. Outside (we were on the ground floor) are a few tatty chairs and a table that have seen much better days - these are outside the front door in a public area.
It isn't all bad. The rooms are OK. The bed is comfy, the air-conditioning works and the shower is good. Location is perfect but if I was to come again, the next door hotel would get my business.
I didn't hate it but I feel you are being mis-sold on deluxe and for what you get they are overpriced.

Too Small Too Uncomfortable
Unfortunately these rooms are not what we expected as the title "Deluxe" implies they are something that they are not. The rooms are tiny. The bed almost hits the wardrobe door and has hard corners at the edges which means you bang your knees if you are not careful. The balcony is tiny, you almost have to fold yourselves in half to fit on it so is very uncomfortable. The bathroom is so small the bathmat is too big to fit properly and the bin sits in front of the loo . The hand basin is so small you are unable to fit any toiletries in or around it. There are no plates or cutlery provided. They provide two hard scratchy bathrobes which wouldnt fit anyone bigger than a size 8. The room is beautifully decorated however decoration does not warrant a deluxe description. The fridge hums all night, the aircon is noisy. You cannot open the balcony doors at night to get any air as the aircon units from the adjoining building are too noisy. The TV red light does not switch off and the green lights for the wi fi are on all night so sleeping is difficult. All in all not a pleasant stay. There are much better places to stay in Symi . I would like to point out that neither me or my husband are large people.
