What a gem of a Bed and Breakfast (and dinner)! We feel very fortunate to have stumbled across this place -- thanks to Hotels.com. Comfortable, quiet room, air conditioning in the midst of this unexpectedly scorching summer. And some of the best food (both dinner and breakfast) that we had on our entire driving trip. Thoughtful details abound. If you have a chance to stay here, don't miss it!

Only place for miles with vacancies - it became obvious why.
After a couple of hours telephoning and visiting accommodation around the Donzenac area - it transpired that everywhere was full except this establishment.
After some friendly chat with both owners at reception I opted for the non-AC standard room; it was only one night so an extra 40 euros for AC seemed a lot. The previous night, further south, I had slept well in a non-AC hotel room with a fan.
I opted for breakfast plus 2 course dinner as extras.
This is what happed :-
- the room fan could not be plugged in near the window because the electrical socket was used by the TV. The only other sockets were one each side at the head of the bed.
- I started to look for a socket adaptor cable but the first cabinet drawer front panel fell off as I touched it (it was just propped in position)
- On going downstairs to reception to borrow an adaptor/extension, I was told 'no', this was not allowed. Despite my pleading and explaining that the fan too close to bed and remote from window was far from ideal, the owner contended that 2 sockets in the room was sufficient (imagine a couple with a phone and iPad each).
- owner's additional comment was I could use the electrical socket in the bathroom (it was a razor socket over sink.... safety !)
- the owner's solution was, as he gently closed the door and lowered his voice to a near whisper, "if I didn’t like it he would return my deposit and I could leave" !
As I knew there were no other vacancies in the area, this regrettably was not an option.
- the dinner and dining room were fine, although the 5euros surcharge for the ice cream as one of the 2 courses was decidedly over the top.
- the next morning on paying the bill I was surprised that there was a 12euros charge for parking. The owner contended this was normal (neither of the other 2 hotels I had stayed at in past week made any charge, even far more secure locked parking).
Other aspects noted for the room :-
- access was via an external metal spiral staircase, to which no footpath. In wet weather or in an emergency this would be perilous.
- the corridor light was a very small/dim in-wall auto light which did not illuminate key hole
- ceiling was papered but amateurishly with all joints open
- electrical socket not screwed tight against wall - this at low level child access height
- electrical duct "broken/chewed" open - this at low level child access height.
This place could and should be fine, however the owner would need to wake-up to the concept of sensibly fitted-out and maintained rooms to a minimum standard and focus on customer relations not only profit.

Your whining review is almost as tedious as was your clientèle. Firstly, there was plenty of accommodation available just next door in both directions, but you insisted on having a closed and secure parking. Already complaining on the phone of the heat, asking for an early check in, naturally you were given the option of a larger superior room with AC and queensized bed for an extra €25; which you did not want to pay.
It was since a contest to invent and extract any possible fault with the room (you had to have 2 computers plugged in at the same time as well as your phone so where to plug in the fan...?) just to have a free upgrade.
In all your details, you forgot to mention that we served you dinner 1 hour earlier at your special request and opened the kitchen just for you; our homemade passion fruit ice cream is made with fresh fruit and is as an extra option.
Your chronic heavy sighing should have been enough to refresh yourself without AC or ice-cream.
Now that you have bumbled back home and busying yourself with your spoiling reviews, (for all we heard of your holiday in Spain and nobody adapting to your special requests you must be very busy at the moment), here is a little suggestion: next time you want go on holiday, just stay home if paying anything causes you so much pain.

Welcoming hotel
Very warm welcome, the couple who manages the hotel is very kind, the evening meal and the breakfast are excellent. The atmosphere is relaxing as well as pleasant.

A true haven of conviviality
It is always a great pleasure to return to this hotel which is improving year after year. Everything here exudes benevolence and attention to detail. We feel welcomed at home, and it is always a pleasure to find Naomi and Christophe, as caring as they are passionate.
We didn’t take the time to say goodbye to you this time, but we enjoyed every moment you spent at home — from the comfort of the rooms to the delicious cuisine, not to mention the warm atmosphere that makes the place so charming.
