Great Value, Good for Tourists and Families
We loved our stay at Lyf Gambetta. We booked the 2 bedroom+Bath suite with kitchen. Kitchen has all the needed appliances and utensils. The bedrooms are clean and comfy. Bathrooms are almost spa like. Amenities are of good quality. We stayed for 3 nights and would totally recommend to friends and family.
The location is safe and in a non crowded area- however it still has good walkability to metro station 3 and several bus routes. There are several restaurants and grocery stores nearby. There are several amenities that we did not make use of as we were busy sight-seeing like a restaurant, community kitchen, sing bar etc. Would definitely consider staying again when in Paris.

It is actually a nice hotel, but the service needs significant improvement.
In May 2026, I stayed for 8 days = 7 nights in room 221 (Duplex Studio).
I found the room concept and the furnishings to be very good. Downstairs there is a bathroom, a kitchenette with a table and chairs. Upstairs is the double bed. The mattress, the blanket, and the pillows were flawless.
The only point of criticism about the room is:
There is only one clothes rack. There is a lack of a wardrobe / shelf / dresser, etc. Something to unpack your suitcase on. Thus, we lived with two people for a week out of two suitcases, which is why we could not put the suitcases away.
The location of the hotel in the 20th arrondissement is somewhat away from the tourist hotspots. However, there is an excellent connection via Metro Line 3 (stations Gambetta or Porte de Bagnolet). Regarding safety:
The hotel is located in a Parisian residential area. If we felt safe in Paris, it was there. Between the fathers who brought their children to school in the morning and the locals who met for a coffee or a beer in the evening after work. The restaurants there are significantly cheaper compared to the city center. . Sometimes, as a tourist, one is alone among Parisians. Everything is very authentic.
In fact, the hotel deserved four or five points for that. What was really annoying, however, was the lack of service. Example:
- The soap in the shower was empty. It can happen, no problem. I informed the reception. The soap was not refilled. The next day, I informed them again…
- Breakfast (costs €22 per person) is supposed to be available from 7:00 AM. If one wants to be early somewhere as a tourist (e.g., Versailles), one gladly takes advantage of that. However, breakfast was often not ready by 7:00 AM. Then the bread was missing, or the buffet was only filled after 7:00 AM. We then had breakfast outside on three or four days.

Therefore (unfortunately) only three points. Would I book the hotel again? Probably, yes. One gets a good place to stay for the money in Paris.

Would've been good to have a floor plan of the rooms as we'd booked a 2 bedroom suite with a shared kitchen, had a bathroom each. Nevertheless, it was clean and comfortable, pillows were a slightly hard for us. Facilities good, staff were friendly. Felt safe in the hotel. Air con was good and needed on the heat. Breakfast was available but we made our own. Fridge didn't have ice compartment, would've been handy for ice cream late evening as the hotel was away from main tourist areas. Close to metro stops.

Although the location is a bit far from city centre, it is very close to a metro stop which makes travelling to major tourist sits very convenient.
The property has what we need for a wonderful stay (including a gym). Everything is well exceeded our expectations and we will definitely return on our next visit to Paris.

The IYF Gambetta is a very nice hotel with clean, quiet, efficient rooms. Unfortunately when checking in, we found that we had reserved and paid for three instead of two rooms due to the description of one of the rooms. It was described as one room, twopeople, when in reality it was two rooms for four people. The hotel was contacted three days ago, as well as the Hotels.com site but I have not heard from either organization. Very disappointing.
