Pyrénées charming boutique hotel- must stay!
My boyfriend and I looked for hours to find a suitable accommodation to wrap up our trip to France before we set to our journey apart. To start the new year together and in The Pyrenees was important to us. The Maison Seignou delivered our absolute dream;EVERYTHING we hoped for and so much more! This was a top notch establishment with amazing hosts, Pyrenees Charm that enriched our soul. The decor was what a beautiful mountain cabin should entail! Rustic classy taste with bold colors, hearty stone, Wood, animal fur, ski images and all highlighted with french authenticity. It is so special that the family that owns and operates this Gorgeous place. You can feel the dedication of this family to provide a tranquil, scenic and authentic experience. They put very specific thought into how the place was designed and showcased the mountain view. A dream of a stay!
Parking was provided and they help guide us after dark with directions on the phone, called to enquire if we wanted to reserve dinner.
Oh the Diner. Merveilleux! Encore! Magnifique. We never wanted this meal to end.
The host was well trained in cuisine, and you could smell it as soon as we entered the home. She prepared a delightful diner, all homemade and hearty! [Watching this Woman multitask with such precision was amazing. I admire her, and need some cooking tips!] The offering was a 3 coarse meal, starting with a all day stewed Garbure including Pyrenees legumes and immense flavor. The wine recommendation was excellent among a fierce selection from region red wines. It paired nicely with the delectable Tartiflette. A Heaping portion of Tartiflette was made with potato,bacon and topped with local cheese crisp. Dessert was not to be missed- A thin homemade crepe filled with delicious baked apple and cinnamon spice! The dining experience captured the pyrenees town, and left our over-full bellies wanting more!
The Room was private and very comfortable. Including a luscious Queen bed with perfect light, fluffy, warm bedding. The wooden cubbies in the wall were helpful, and everything was freshly renovated. Amenities of robes, slippers, local shampoo/body wash and local chocolate treat was a delight. The view was of a gorgeous starry night as we arrived and we awoke to a snow capped mountainous view overlooking the entrance and patio in the morning.
The next morning as I awaited the Sauna to heat inside (they have a Spa area!), I enjoyed my freshly brewed coffee in the crisp 2019 January-air on the patio. I could see the sliver shaped moon, and a few stars fading as the Sun was rising. Overlooking the barrel shaped jacuzzi, hand crafted wooden art, colorful flowers sprinkled throughout the patio with a bit of frost bite but still surviving the elements. Smelling the fresh air, seeing the picturesque mountains and listening to the mountain-town sounds was simple but such a delight. Wind mills blowing in the soft breeze, soft Churchbells chimed as the time struck 8:30am, a faint sound of a rooster crowing and on occasion cyclist would pass by the narrow stone-lined streets. A friendly wave and “BonJour” as I was greeted by a family member who had walked back from town with fresh local bread. I understand the phrase “breathtaking”, as i soaked in this simple mountain moment I sipped by java and enjoyed the bathrobe and slippers provided.
Many Thank-yous and respect to this family. Maison Seignou was Tranquil, Charming, unique and made our stay an Authentic Pyrenees a delight.

Very bad experience!
When we called to confirm our arrival, we were told by the hostess that she was not cooking tonight because there were only two of us but that she would find a solution! Happy surprise when we arrived, we were no longer the only ones and a dinner of some sort was served to us. But in the meantime, the hostess discovered that the agency which had booked for us had failed to pay for the breakfasts! We presented our voucher with the half board paid, but in vain, we had to pay 10€ per person, instead of resolving this problem with the agency, without penalizing the customer.
Furthermore, we did not see this person again all evening, and when I was surprised the next day, I was told that she had to take care of her children!

Overvalued, disappointing
The room for 4 people is absolutely nonsense for 4 adults. It has a lower level with a sofa bed (when opened there was no much free space there) and a ladder (not a proper staircase) to the upper level which is a tiny attic in which you can only stand straight in the middle of it due to the gable roof. The bathroom, even it has a big shower it could only fit one person outside the shower-area. Even the town is placed on top of a high mountain, our room didn't have nice views, we could only see the hot tub at the entrance of the home, even the room is called "the suite"... I think that maybe other rooms had better views because from the dining room you could see the mountains.
By seeing the pics and their webpage I thought it was a charming house in the mountains but it wasn't what we found there... On the main door there was a chair with used cleaning clothes on top of it, the main table at the lounge was full with a mess of papers and brochures, the dinning room (attached to the lounge) still had leftover food from previous meal, during our whole stay there was something like a disassembled crib on the aisle that led to the rooms... Moreover there was a strong food smell all around the place, even inside our room.
The breakfast was fine, but not as good as expected after seeing the 9.4 score it had in Booking. Since we were in France we expected amazing bakery but not at all, the cheese and local sausages were really good, the rest was simply ok. We didn't communicate much with the owner because she only spoke french but she seemed very friendly. The room was clean.
To sum up, it may had been a charming boutique hotel but now (in my opinion) it's far from being it. There is a lack of coherence between the concept they show through they webpage and what they really are.

Boutique hotel in Saint Lary
Small Boutique hotel with a lot of charm. The rooms are very cozy and well decorated. The hotel is located in a quiet area with incredible views. There is a Jacuzzi outside where the views of the snowed mountains are beautiful. The hotel service is excellent and the food is of very good quality. The owners are very accommodating. Next to the fireplace, it is a relaxing area for a drink and read a book.

Small exquisite boutique hotel on top of the mountain
For Asian Singaporeans like us, a stay on the mountain TOP hotel like Maison seignou and their reasonable pricing was heavenly for us. The "hotel" or more likely a big part of the house (you stay with the owners but a lot of privacy given dont worry) was carefully designed, with exquisite and modern furniture. The property and rooms were clean, with a huge chill out area with mountain views. Hot tub (with a glimpse of the snow capped), sauna were free to use .
Downside? - the suite for 4 was especially cramp especially at the loft, I Guess it was meant for 2 kids 2 adults but we squeezed 4 adults in. Bathroom was the smallest I ever seen, can't barely fit 2 outside of the shower area. The double room our parents stayed in was decently sized though. There's nothing to eat in Azet, unless you drive to Saint lary. Hotel restaurant Dinner at eur22 per pax was pleasant, service was good, but slightly over priced. I Guess the price is more for the experience and presentation of the food.
There's a free garage to park your car, but mind you the paths are narrow coz you are on a mountain TOP! Owners are friendly though showed a bit of disbelief when we brought our own wine n beer up the mountain back to the house and borrowed her fridge (we bought them before checking in, and didn't expect that)
Great hiking paths at the back of the house! And a drive future up the mountain behind leads you to a panoramic view of the region!! Don't drive down!
All in all a good stay, will recommend if you are European and Travelling light (no lifts in the house).
