A safe bet for a getaway from Barcelona.

Whenever I go to Sitges, the Meliá is one of my favorite options, and in fact, I try to go at least once a year. For a weekend getaway from Barcelona, it seems like a perfect option to me.
The location is very good, close to the beach and the boardwalk, and the hotel itself is very well-maintained. The facilities are renovated, the rooms are super spacious, complete, and I have always found them very clean and comfortable. Also, the heated pool is a plus, especially when it is not so hot.
But if I had to highlight something, it would be the service. The staff is always super friendly and attentive, it really is a pleasure. And also the hotel is very well thought out technologically: both the check-in and the check-out are very convenient and the whole process is quite agile.
In general, I always have a very good experience when I go. It is one of those hotels that you know you can return to because you know what you are going to find: comfort, good facilities, good service, and a great location.
I would recommend it 100%, especially for a weekend getaway from Barcelona. And there must be a reason why, at least once a year, I end up coming back.

Don't stay here...Nil on reception was great..found us a good room...check in was great..hotel is clean...looks business like but good vibe....
Room 651 ...fantastic views...great beds ...shower was lovely.. AC could of been better but ok...
It's cost ..£1500 for a wk..with breakfast..
The week there was ok..but I would never return...
The Food was plentiful ..but bland...horrible. we never had 1 decent meal...
If you are Spanish it may be ok..but for us it was terrible...cold breakfast...no change.. same everyday...boring..hot milk fir cereal..
No help or support. Trying to understand what was what..was difficult...leaning over to get to things... hot labels with no napkins...
The lady who took your breakfast room no was lovely....but her and Nil ..the only 2 .. the service was awful...
Rude..abrupt...rules rules.. No. no..
1 min early for buffet....and told to stand outside...pool boy rude .unfriendly...
1 waiter made some conversation..but no one else...
I don't think anyone could speak English ..in 1 wk...no one really spoke to us. Except to take plates or tell us off...
The pool was nice. But squeaky steps...don't get bed near there...
The worse part of the pool..is you cannont even attempt to sit at it till 10am...the tables at the pool are metal...and hot as hell. Any drinks just become hot in seconds ...umbrellas are good .but must share...
The shower at pool is good..toilet good..but lock on toilet door..is so stiff. You could easily be locked in...
This hotel was so disappointing and in some ways spoilt our holiday..it's my 1st Melia and Im not impressed...
The place has great views..but it's to far from sitges.. and uphill...taxi was expensive...please don't stay here for any more than a day....it's more for business...and definitely has no chefs...or cocktail bar staff...

An upmarket hotel, but location is the issue
This is an upmarket hotel with pretty good facilities on the edge of the town.
The room was good. Like the rest of the hotel, it was very clean and had a modern, streamlined look. Some might say it lacked character - it depends on your taste. Everything looked fresh and new as if it had just been constructed. The bed was also comfortable and the aircon worked well in the exceptional heat we had during our stay. Housekeeping was generally good but there were some glitches, like our Nespresso capsules not being replenished two days running.
The balcony overlooked the marina and the sea view was good. I did pay extra for that. The pool area was okay, but did feel crowded in August.
We didn’t do breakfast which was as usual a ridiculous price. We were quoted €24 each per day. You can buy a 3 course menu del dia in Sitges for that! We saved a three figure sum by simply having breakfast in town, usually at the 365 cafe/bakery. However on the plus side the hotel did give us free glasses for the eclipse.
The main issue in summer is the walk to the town and back. It’s not far, a kilometre maybe - but it is exposed and the sun beats down on you mercilessly all the way. Sadly it’s not a nice flat walk by the sea either - it’s up and down all the way there. It would be fine in cooler weather but it is energy sapping in the heat of summer. Even at night we found the walk exhausting.
Luckily a taxi is only about €8 - 11 each way using the meter. You may find yourself using them more often than you planned! Unfortunately the hotel is really too far out to be very convenient. If you don’t mind the taxi journeys then it’s not too much of a problem. Of course, if you visit outside the summer months it’s less of an issue.
In all honesty we would not stay here again as we think proximity to the town’s attractions is more important. However it is a high standard of hotel and really only its location lets it down.

Too impersonal.
A very large hotel with a huge lobby.
3:30 PM arrival, the room was announced ready at 3:00 PM, it will be ready at 4:00 PM.
Well, subsequently the times for cleaning the room will be very variable, the last day only the bathroom could be done...
Large international hotel without charm, some might like it but not us.
A large co-working area on the ground floor, 6 rows of lounge chairs facing a medium-sized pool...
The room: good bedding but fairly average furniture, no slippers, no replacement of coffee pods, small refrigerator that does not get cold.
Not up to the standards of major French hotel chains.
Only the proximity to the beaches and the city is its primary asset.

All great - location, staff and quality. Breakfast rich and delicious- unfortunately the presence of uncontrolled kids walking around the buffet and touching the food was the only inconvenience.
