Sandos Monaco – Another Amazing Stay!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sandos Monaco – 9/10
We’ve just returned from another fantastic stay at the Sandos Monaco, and once again, it did not disappoint. This was my second stay at the hotel, and I would definitely come back again.
The hotel is around a 10-minute walk from the beach and is adults-only, making it a lovely place to relax and enjoy your holiday.
From the moment you arrive, the reception team are so welcoming, and you’re greeted with a complimentary welcome drink. All the staff we met were friendly, helpful and welcoming, from the maintenance,cleaners and kitchen team to the waiters, managers, entertainment team and bar staff.
A special thank you to Raul, the food manager, who was so helpful and would always try to accommodate you, especially with dietary requirements. We only found out towards the end of our stay that he could arrange more vegetarian options, which was really appreciated.
A huge thank you also to Nadia and Jeremias at the bar and manager they were all fantastic, friendly and great fun. ❤️
And I can’t forget Erica in the spa. My massage was absolutely fantastic and was one of the highlights of my stay. She was brilliant! ♀️✨
The hotel is very clean and well looked after, and the food was lovely with plenty of variety.
There were just a couple of small negatives. I felt there could have been more vegetarian choices, although Raul was happy to help when asked. I also found the pillows a little hard, and I think the evening entertainment could be improved with some live music or live bands.
Overall, we had an amazing holiday and I would definitely recommend the Sandos Monaco. 9/10 from me! ❤️

Fab stay at Sandos Monaco Hotel and Spa
This was our 3rd stay at Sandos Monaco Hotel and Spa in Benidorm and it won’t be our last. This is an adult only hotel. Just got back from this hotel with my hubby.
The location was based down 2 streets away from the beach with a slight hill climb going back.
The rooms were lovely. Stayed on the 15th floor on a Select all inclusive basis. The room and bathroom was always kept spotless. Thanks to Irene and the other housekeeping. The only thing I can say on a negative note about the room was that the WiFi signal wasn’t very good. Other areas of the hotel were much better.
The Select Lounge was very good and could go in and help yourself to premium drinks, different coffees and snacks. Lovely aircon when it was a bit too hot outside. This was an upgrade at a cost per person, per night. With select you also got a free spa pool voucher, bubbly on ice, drinks in the fridge, a free gift, free room safe, bath robes and slippers. Personally, we felt it was very good value.
I had a lovely massage and facial in the spa. Over 2 hours and once completed, felt so relaxed. Highly recommend! Also went to the inside pool area where there was a jacuzzi, relaxation seats, sauna, detox and steam room. Mood lighting was lovely and relaxing. You need a euro for the locker areas and deposits are needed for towels.
The food was buffet style with plenty of choice. Different options each day. Bravo to all the restaurant staff. In the pool area during the day until 6om, you could have snacks like, Cheeseburgers, pizzas, kebabs, salads, and Spanish Sausage. This was great if you were at the poolside and didn’t want to head down to the restaurant.
There's an inside bar next the pool. This was always busy, and felt there was a slight flaw here. I felt for the bar staff as they sometimes got flack from hotel guests queuing long to get a drink. This was sometimes due to guests asking for coffee and soft drinks, rather than serving alcoholic beverages. Coffee sometimes took a while to make, while queuing got longer. A suggestion that a coffee machine and a soft drinks machine could be put in there for self service. That way, the bar staff won’t feel so overwhelmed and guests kept happier? The bar staff worked their socks off to try and keep guests happy.
The entertainment girls were lovely. So friendly and funny. Plenty of entertainment if you want to join in. The entertainment lounge also has a bar. Well done to the entertainment team for their hard work and long hours.
The reception team were also fab. They were so helpful if you had any questions about your stay or queries on the surrounding areas. The check in and out was fast and didn’t take long at all. There wasn’t an iron or board in our room, however, asked at reception and they got that organised. There’s a 20 euro deposit for this and is refunded once returned. Thanks to Adriana who I had emailed before our stay, to ask some queries. She was brilliant at answering them and made us feel so welcome.
I hope I haven’t missed anyone or anything out.
We just loved our time here and there was a chilling and relaxing vibe to it.
We were sad to leave, but looking forward to seeing you all again hopefully soon.

This will be our last visit to this hotel
4 years ago I wrote a review saying it might be the last trip to this hotel - we booked a late break to this one again - mainly for the location and pool - unfortunately a lot of the previous issues remain - and in some cases were actually a lot worse - so this will indeed be our last visit.
Food quality has was poor, still weird and wonderful combinations mean you struggle to put a meal together - and when you do it is either repetitive, cold/lukewarm or under-cooked. I mean, why put curried rice and and then put no curry on!
Although you can now order food again from the outside snack bar you still can't refill your soft drinks or beer from the taps next to the snack bar (permanently covered up) which means you have to queue inside for a drink (only once you have dried off from the pool). Why give us all inclusive bracelets and then not give us the freedom like before 2020.
The rooms are now terribly dated, the wardrobe doors kept coming off the rails, the instructions for the safe (which you still have to pay for on an all inclusive basis) are not clear and it had to be reset twice before it would work properly.
The sun loungers on the balcony you get with the wellness room are flimsy and difficult to get out of if someone of a larger size - comfy enough once in them but you didn't dare move much for fear of unintended movements.
The staff on the whole were good, but the hotel entertainment was worse than on previous visits - convinced one of the singers was miming (which didn't make it any better) .
As we booked the wellness room we had the opportunity for a treatment (we had the massage) - we had to put on the smallest budgie smugglers you can think of - bearing in mind we went in in swimwear we thought this is unwarranted and then if you use the spa water circuit they insist on selling people a head cap to those with hair - this is new since the last time and for my opinion just a money grab.
The massage was nice however but you don't get the full 25 mins - that 25 mins included is filling out the paperwork and getting changed so probably no more than 18-20 mins.
The cleanliness on the walkway up to the hotel is also poor - since a children's playground was installed over the road from the bottom of the hotel all the dog walkers now let their dogs defecate on the run up to the hotel instead and don't bother picking it up - meaning on hot days it absolutely stinks.
I am now wishing we had stayed at the Riveria Beach Hotel again, as although not all inclusive, the food quality, cleanliness and everything else is a lot better than the Sandos Monaco.

Positives: polite staff, clean rooms and very good spa facilities that are cheaper than advertised (we paid 38 euros for both of us, and went twice. Highly recommend).
Negatives: this is not a four star experience - is suspect it’s four star due to the space facilities but everything else more like three stars. The corridors and rooms smell of smoke, very very uncomfortable beds. Not nice pool or snack bar area. If you are a meat eater you will love breakfast - for vegans / lactose intolerant very limited options (but understandable as it is Spain, typically there are just many more options).
Ultimately I think this hotel is overpriced for what it is, but if you aren’t planning on using your room much then it might be for you, can’t fault the staff or spa.

Enjoyable stay with some issues that could be solved easily
I agree with the comments around the €3 per day to use a safe in the room is a bit of a rip off,
All inclusive only gets you 2 different Cocktails .
It’s all local spirits and if you want anything different you have to pay ,
Having to buy a cap and flip flops for the spa is poor .
Food was decent with variety, Hotel was very clean rooms cleaned every day .
Entertainment was average nothing great .
The WIFI was poor it said you were connected but you could not
get into apps etc .
You have to get to the pool around 9 am to secure a bed as they go quickly ,
