De La Poste is a good hotel at a fantastic price. The staff are lovely, they serve a good breakfast, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the shower has plenty of hot water. This was our second time staying at the hotel and I would stay again. Sure, the advertised wifi isn’t available but that is a small inconvenience. With all that has happened in the last 6 years, it is a small miracle that independent, family hotels still exist in Egypt.

It was okay for 2 nights. I just hated that the WiFi stopped working and they couldn’t get it fixed

Fabulous time in Port Said

My friend and I decided to have an week away from Luxor and went to Port Said. We booked into the De La Poste Hotel, and it was the best thing we did. The staff - amazing. Location - amazing. Hotel - amazing. The hotel is old world, and I would love to have seen it in it's glory so many years ago. We must also say that the beds were so comfortable, falling asleep was no problem. A definite plus. Due to floods in Cairo we were late in arriving and exhausted. The staff couldn't have been more considerate. We were taken straight up to our rooms and coffee was sent up to us. No matter what we wanted, it wasn't a problem. Stephanie who served our breakfast was so considerate, right down to going out for milk for our Nescafé (she doesn't realise we saw her do this). Thanks also to Ebrahim, Mohammed, Omar, and one or two of the staff whose names I didn't manage to get. You were wonderful. With millions of thanks to everyone. You guys are absolute stars. Worth Every Penny

Only stayed here for one night. Its totally unjustified when you read some of the negative comments made.
This is an heritage building. Therefore it does come with certain drawbacks, but remember, you are staying in a hotel which was an intringle part of Port Said history.
Yes, the wooden floor does make a skewking sound but thats how an old floor is supposed to sound. Instead of complaining, appreciate the 25ft high ceiling. A very large newly painted room with an enclosed balcony. Where would you nowdays find a room with a fan and a very quiet AC. Clean bathroom. A 24" TV. I was even surprised that the hotel had a lift.
All these for a mere $25 - $30 a night including breakfast. For this price, do not expect a full spread of a buffett breakfast.
Location is unbeatable. The cornich is just 3 minutes of walking. Surrounded by plenty of cafes and restaurants.
Check-in was fast and was allowed an early check-in. Wi-fi works on and off near the entrance but without internet browsing. Not sure what this is but this is the message I got on my phone.
For me, this hotel is Value for Money when compared to the absurd prices being charged by some of the so called resorts in Port Said.

Overpriced, gloomy with surly staff.

We stayed here for two nights, only because it was the cheapest hotel we found in overpriced Port Said, but it was more than double the cost of anywhere else we have stayed in Egypt.
We negotiated a small discount, and because of that the receptionist refused to give us the WiFi code.
The hotel is in a lovely old colonial building but is run down with peeling paint and grubby walls. A poor breakfast is included in the room rate, served in a sad looking canteen with a few forlorn people sitting around smoking.
On the plus side, you get clean sheets, two large towels, toilet paper and some soap. The TV works and there’s a light switch near the bed, something for your money at least!
It’s much cheaper to book in advance online if you’re planning ahead, but don’t expect a friendly welcome.
