Definitely recommend!
Great location, right in the centre of the old town. Cozy and nice atmosphere, with spacious rooms which still allowed for privacy. The rooms were kept clean, and although it was not all isolated the best, the noise level was kept down out of respect and it were mostly peaceful nights. Good breakfast, very complete kitchen, and quick response for any questions or requests. I will definitely come again!

This was fine for a hostel stay - it’s in a great location, stable wifi, and I liked the little cubicle for a bed rather than a standard bunk. The breakfast was also fine but there’s no eggs provided.
My main problem was the bathrooms - 2 showers, 2 toilets for the entire hall was not it. There was no hot water. and at one point an old woman (maybe a guest, i’m not sure?) was sleeping in the changing room part with her entire wardrobe while she waited to wash her several bags of clothes in one of the two showers available.
I also wasn’t a fan of the man who cleaned our rooms - didn’t knock before entering a female-only dorm and then didn’t close the door properly after he finished so anyone could walk in?
it was just a really bizarre set of circumstances but everything else was fine.

Capsule comfort :)
In a capsule which was like my own "little contained-space" (but a nice-sized one really with no shortage of where to put small personal items around the mattress inside the capsule), it was a comfortable stay at this hostel where the breakfast was also a "good-enough one" I would say to get the day started and where also in the vicinity are the small-sized food place for like wok-fried meals ("right beside" the building with this place) and the mini-supermarket but really with quite a variety of food & miscellaneous items (just across the small street in front & slightly "to the left" from the hostel building).
And at the old-town area of Upper Town (with charming heritage buildings on like just a "slightly-higher ground" with gentle slopes & not-too-difficult stairways), it's a nicely-convenient location of this hostel "right at the bottom" of the area & pretty much "right beside" the sizeable Ban Jelacic Square (with beautiful buildings all around & also a number of "city-tram lines" on one side) from which it's also just like a 15-to-20-minute walk to those sites a little outside the old-town area (the spacious lawn with a "king-like equestrian statue" in front of the Train Station, the Botanical Garden for a pleasant walk around although not a very sizeable one & the National Theater in like a sprawling shape on a big city-block with also a "fairly-breathtaking beauty").

Breakfast was basic but sufficient for free breakfast. I appreciated that it was constantly refilled. The staff cleaned everything often, some of the guests didn’t do their part cleaning after themselves but that was not the staffs fault. The manager and new staff member servicing the front were very pleasant. The elevator was so slow but it made for a great joke and helped us decompress after shopping and walking around all of the accessible sites everyday. So close to everything. Would definitely return.

Mixed bag
It was mixed bag.
On my first day, I asked reception about bikes or scooters to rent in the city. the girl on reception reacted like it was an unusual question. She said no there wasn’t any and no one asked her this before. I was surprised. An hour later I not only walked out to find hire bikes everywhere in Zagreb but a flier on e bike hire in the hostel itself.
Staff training 101!
Second was breakfast - the milk jug where the milk is decanted smells like gone off milk. Like properly yucky.
I checked with reception that the milk may be off and the girl didn’t seem to like my suggestion. I felt her response quite rude but I am British.
Another carton was put down swiftly but with no means to open it. Me and another guest battled with it for 15 minutes with a blunt knife. I later find out why the milk always smells rancid is because it’s not washed between use. I went for a late night glass of water to see the empty jug unwashed sitting on the side and yes - smelling of gone off milk. Not pleasant.
Other than that many of the staff were pleasant and helpful and the rooms clean and comfortable and hostel is centrally placed.
