AMAZING!
Went on holiday too split with my friend decided too book a hostel for the first time as it was cheaper. But didn’t expect how much both of would enjoy it. Met so many knew people and it’s been life changing decided we’d love too travel. The staff were amazing so helpful and more like Friends. Thanks again! Highly recommend too anyone!

Horrible reception and ownership at backpackers fairytale hostel
Absolutely horrible service.showed up 10 min after their 10:00 closing time,and had no way of checking in,we emailed them a day before showing up saying that well be arriving late and got no response,had to book a different hotel for the night,showed up the next day to check in and there check in office still wasn't open at 9:30 which there writing states it opens at 8:30,I'm Absolutely disgusted in this place would definitely not recommend owner needs to learn how to run a business professionally,and we still had no way of getting a refund if there was a 0 star option this would deserve it ¡!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WORST HOSTEL EXPERIENCE
DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Worst hostel experience so far and we've stayed countless hostels in different countries. Not at all like depicted online. We arrived and the manager was high as a kite. Check-in took forever as he kept repeating all the same questions over and over. We instantly felt uncomfortable upon arrival as it was stinky, cluttered, and the people and energy was weird. We paid but when we saw our room we decided to leave because we felt very uncomfortable and not very safe. Crowded, other people stuff all over the beds that were supposedly ours. Gross! He wouldn't give us a refund but we just left. Also weirdly couldn't leave a review on hostelworld so leaving one here because I dont want anyone(especially female solo travelers) to have this experience. We have talked to other people about this hostel and they said that it is known to have problems with drugs and alcohol. We felt like we were walking into someone's gross college party apartment.

A nightmare, not a fairy tale
I wanted to like this hostel but - having stayed in dorms in 60+ countries - this is one of the worst. I checked out 2 days early even though they didn't give me a refund; it was that bad. The vibe is like a bunch of teens living in a shared apartment - cigarette butts on the balcony, broken locks in the dorms, ants crawling all over the bathroom and kitchen sinks.
Pros:
- great location
- attentive staff who try to clean up after the guests (who leave their dishes all over the kitchen counter)
Cons:
- 5 flights of stairs. If you return at night, the stairs have no lighting so you have to use your phone flashlight.
- ants all over bathroom and kitchen sinks
- kitchen and living area are dirty (bags, leftover food, half-filled cups, cigarette butts, etc everywhere. Lots of litter.)
- bathroom is so cramped that your elbow hits the wall when you turn around to flush the toilet
- shower is lukewarm at best and changes hot/cold wildly
- bunk beds are shaky and show their age
- dorms don't lock. One night, a guy wandered in while I was in bed and said he was looking for his friend... Didn't feel totally safe...

Would rather sleep on the beach
Extremely unprofessional, disorganised and messy setup. It felt like someone’s apartment with bunk beds in a couple rooms. The rooms are also particularly small and cramped… my bed was next to the Air Conditioning so I was freezing all night! Lockers were broken and small, alongside the room being so small it was impossible to organise yourself. The kitchen area and common area felt like a hangout for the staff. There was only one bathroom for women, which was extremely uncomfortable. Given the lack of options in Split, I feel they have taken advantage of this aspect. The staff generally were rude and made it seem like a hassle if you had a request and at points ignored our presence, alongside getting us confused with other guests both in checkin and checkout. Moreover, the hostel was always open and security was minimal, anyone could walk in. Staff were also not always present and often just relaxing or not in the vicinity.
