Lovely quaint family run hotel and restaurant

Lovely quaint inn run in the lovely rustic town of New Denver. The hotel is old (1960s) and has that vibe of the past, but it was all clean, freshly painted and well taken care off. The flowers in the windows and the many plants in the lobby, show that the owners care about their place. Most important: the beds were good. We had two rooms with two queen beds and we slept well.
An unexpected bonus was the restaurant: the waitress (Grandma) recommended the Chinese food, and it was delicious! Grandma's service and care was also fun, we came back the next day. Thanks grandma, we love you!
Extra unexpected bonus was our visit to Sandon Ghost Town: a great trip into the past, equally quaint and fun. Staying in Valhalla Inn and visiting Sandon and New Denver is a wonderful combination of activities: I totally recommend doing that!

Friendly owners and staff

While this hotel is dated, the service is great, the basic rooms have comfortable beds and the usual amenities - fridge, TV, coffee maker etc. We recently stayed 3 nights and never found it to be noisy. This hotel is pet-friendly which was great for us. Breakfast at the restaurant is really nice with the usual breakfast offerings. We had Chinese food for dinner one night and it was really nice as well. We have been coming here for many years and will keep coming back.

Brothers on a Motorcycle trip

Even though the whole town was in the middle of a power outage , Yi made us a nice Stir Fry and Burgers on the gas grill , we found the staff and the room pleasant , our breakfast the next day was ample and delicious.

We felt like well cared for family

A great stop for a cycling trip. Nice clean rooms on the main floor. Bike washing station and the front desk gave us rags for drying our bikes which we took into our huge room. Comfy beds and nice and quiet. We will go again. Close to shops and bike trails. Good people great service.

Overpriced and very outdated rooms

We were bicycling the Selkirk Loop and didn't have much choice of accommodations within cycling distance. I was very disappointed in the value, which was the worst in our 10-day trip. The price we paid was way too much for the very basic rooms that really do need to be updated. There weren't enough outlets near the bed. It would be so easy to get a power strip or block with outlets and USB ports. We also had a hard time finding a place for dinner. Two people in our group ate at the hotel's restaurant, and I think they were the only customers (I didn't find out their experience).
