Warm, welcoming location with great kitchen, outdoor BBQ, and firepit.

Great to once again visit this clean, friendly Hostel with BBQ and fire pit. The Hostess Jennifer could not have neen nicer and more accomodating, providing stories and information about the region. Also, quick to respond to email questions. Great evenings with a view of the stars by the fire pit, with great conversation and camaraderie with the other guests enjoyingf nature as is common at a nice hostel. Showers, electric plugs, other amenities such as firewood were as expected. A friendly dog Lizzy and cat Booker were occasionally available for petting. Highly recommended, a great location.

Quiet hours not respected and no staff onsite

Quiet hours were posted as 11pm-7am and were not respected by some of the guests who were drinking, talking, listening to music in the common space past 1am. There was no manager/staff onsite from 10pm until 9:30am and we did not learn this until after the fact. What happens if there is an emergency? This facility is unsafe I will not be staying here again. This is a shame because the location is amazing and the kitchen is well equip.

Great Hostel

I stayed there for only one night on a photography trip. I like the fact that it is in the middle of nowhere so it is really quiet. The fireplace made the whole experience really cozy. Staff was really nice. Kitchen was clean and had everything you need to cook.

November trip

Friendly and helpful staff and enjoyable meeting other guests in the communal kitchen and dinning areas and around the wood burning stove, supplemented with a nice selection of books on the area and shared by previous guests. Nordegg is a lovely and under utilized area of Alberta. Occasionally some guests can be loud past the universal 11:00 p.m. quite time.

A wonderful getaway for our group of 29!!!!

We recently stayed one night at HI Nordegg, Shunda Creek. Jennifer was quick to respond to any emails we sent, and helped with solutions to our particular needs. Upon our arrival, Roy was fantastic! He had a campfire ready of us when we took the students (24 Japanese students here for a 2-week summer camp) out to make s'mores and enjoy the fresh mountain air.
Their kitchen is well equipped, and worked perfectly for our group to cook together.
It is rustic, and one truly feels that the stresses of work and life are momentarily put on hold! Our stay in Nordegg was definitely a highlight! Thanks Jennifer and Roy! See you next year, we hope!!!!!
