Quick getaway
Lovely and convenient and loved the pool! And breakfast was awesome too! Rooms clean and beds comfy check in streamlined we got to where we needed to be with the minimum of fuss

No nice experience
I was coming last year for my partner birthday, the experience was good so we decided to come back this year.
Somehow this year things have been changed a lot. Housekeeping services was not good. After service, the floor stilled have a lot of hairs. No top up fresh towels. Bathroom shower wall full of mold. Overall it was not good experience this visit.

Once a favourite, now a disappointment
Once a favourite, now a disappointment: I stayed at the Hyatt Centric for a week in 2025 and gave it top marks - friendly staff, great location, and a proper hotel atmosphere. I returned this August for a fortnight and was genuinely saddened to find that changes have been made for the worse.
The biggest blow is the restaurant and bar being closed on Sunday and Monday evenings. The bar itself now shuts at 9:30pm, so a nightcap is impossible unless you leave the hotel and find another venue that actually operates like a bar. With the restaurant closed, guests are forced to eat in the lobby, which has been given a "cafe" atmosphere but is still, fundamentally, a lobby - people coming and going, suitcases rolling past, no sense of a dining room. Room service is offered as an alternative, but who really wants to eat every evening meal in their room?
The 25th floor used to have comfortable armchairs where you could sit and read, or simply look out over the city. These have been removed and replaced with more restaurant tables, stripping away one of the hotel's quiet pleasures.
Breakfast has been "techified" for no good reason. Waitresses wander around with laptops to take orders for eggs only, because everything else is buffet. This creates unnecessary delays and makes it impossible to coordinate your toast with your eggs, or time your buffet bacon to arrive alongside them. On one morning the computer "said no" and my order was simply forgotten. What is wrong with serving eggs at a hatch, the way hotels have done for decades?
The lobby cafe does not accept cash at all - not even for a bag of nuts or a sandwich from the self-service display cabinet. This is pointless and inconvenient.
The one thing that has not changed is the staff. They remain friendly, helpful, and go out of their way to provide good service within the limitations the hotel has imposed on them. They deserve better management decisions.
I come to Melbourne annually and have now stayed here twice. After this fortnight, I do not think I will return. Changes do not always bode well, and this time they most certainly have not.

Great Location, Fantastic Amenities, and Wonderful Staff!
Hyatt Centric Melbourne is in a prime, convenient location.
The suite was excellent, and having a heated towel rack in the room was a thoughtful, luxurious touch.
The breakfast was delicious, and every staff member was warm and friendly. I would definitely stay here again!

Great place to stay!
Travelling for business I had a great stay. Parking was easy, check-in was quick and the room was very clean and very functional
