Prepaying for breakfast was a poor decision. The breakfast was only available at a cafe around the corner from the hotel. There were only three choices on the menu, none of which appealed to us. We ended up going to another hotel each morning and paying for a good buffet breakfast. We therefore lost our money on the pre-pay at the hotel. Don't make the same mistake.

Unless you like checking in with a computer screen I would give this place a miss.
After booking with Hotels, still had to enter all my details again, then asked if i wanted to purchase a late check out, which I did only to find myself locked out of my room after 10:30am.
Then had to find a real person at reception and then after two attempts finally got a key to allow me back in my room. The late check out stuff doesn't seem to transfer to your keys but it does take your money quickly ....

Central location, but do not go by the pictures and expect little amenity……

Rydges used to be dependably provisioned and honestly priced but it now feels like they have as many as the costs taken out of them as the accountants can manage……..
On the plus side
- the location is central
- water pressures great
- rooms sizeable
- beds comfortable
On the negative
- photos look like from 25 years ago and when there was service and attention to customer detail
- pool is much smaller than imagined
- no terrace bar, nor any bar
- all food service is out sourced or non existent
- there is no reception it’s mostly all automated
- payments attract a 1.5% surcharge and there is no ability to choose cheque savings or credit (to gain what should be cost free eftpos)
- rooms do not have phones to call staff or for assistance
- whilst there are hair dryers there are no toilet brushes
This is a room only resource and ok priced once you appreciate that and don’t expect what is described or photographed long ago

Great central location but tired and dated building, barely 3 star hotel (if that).

No complimentary water on arrival nor was there water available to purchase. That was a real disappointment. The body wash in the shower was empty. Not nearly as nice as I was expecting.
Dust all over the bed head and table.
