Bad experience but the hotel did refund me. I booked a basic single room, described as 194 sq ft, Free WiFi, Balcony, and a nice looking photo on the website. What I got was a musty attic garret that reeked of cigarettes, had zero wifi, and was about he size of a small bathroom. I was very upset and asked the receptionist to give me a different room and they said nothing else was available. The next day they gave me a new room and refunded me for the prior night. The new room was totally lovely and matched the photo, expect the lights in the bathroom didn't work. It had a nice big window overlooking a peaceful garden. But i had spent the first night in real misery, trying to book another hotel and freaking out because my booking was non-refundable and I thought I was going to lose my money. And I had not internet and I needed to work. So I feel like I lost a day of my vacation in misery and panic and I'm really not happy about it. Also I cannot believe that they'd rent that disgusting tiny closet to anyone. It's not fit for anyone to stay there. I'm glad I was refunded the $120.00 I had paid for the room but it still didn't give me back a day of my life and my precious vacation time.

Disturbing
Customer or guest orientation are unknown terms according to our last experience at the Hotel Schmidt.
We checked in a little earlier than the regular check-in time at reception on the booking day to make sure everything was going as planned.
That's when the drama started: Despite written confirmation, we were denied a certain pre-ordered room (we had a corresponding confirmation from the hotel!). This information was given in an unacceptable tone: very unkind and condescending. It took a long, unpleasant discussion to clarify and preserve the room.
We felt the request to remove our car from the (almost empty) large hotel parking lot immediately was pure harassment - the car should only be there from 3 pm. There came the instruction that we should follow the rules in this hotel! However, we learned from other guests that they could easily leave the car in the parking lot before checking in.
Very disturbing handling! But also on the part of the hotel management: to this day (almost 4 weeks later) no reaction has taken place to our complaint to the hotel management.

This hotel is older but the room was large, comfortable, and the washroom was updated.

It could benefit from a course in service and garden maintenance!
I came from England and stayed for 5 nights. On the first day my bed was made, bathroom cleaned and wastepaper basket emptied. After that NOTHING MORE was done in the room. No new towels, no bed made and no wastepaper basket emptied. There was also no list of TV stations. No telephone! Breakfast times in the room differed from the times in the breakfast room. The breakfast offering was "low". Tea water was "lukewarm" every day. There was no fruit available several times. Cold cuts were "carelessly" thrown down so that it was difficult to take individual slices. The breakfast room had a cozy atmosphere. The hotel benefits from its location and it is a shame that in this day and age, when service should be number ONE, it does not make an effort to show a high standard. Unfortunately, the outdoor area is also very unkempt. Staff were friendly but understaffed.
