Great hotel in a small village.....

We found this hotel because we were visiting nearby Wasserspiele in Kassel, Germany. The Hotel Scirocco appears to be named after the VW Scirocco, since VW is the largest employer in the area. During the week the hotel is occupied by mostly VW employees, but on weekends, at least the weekend we were here, the hotel is mostly empty. The hotel is actually in the town of Baunatal which is only a 20 min train ride to Kassel which has wonderful shopping in the downtown area and an old palace nearby. But back to the hotel, it is located within a 10 min walk to the train station and is across the street from a small open air shopping mall with many shops and restaurants. The hotel included a wonderful breakfast which consisted of the usual European meats, cheeses and breads, but it also included scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon. An assortment of fruit, yogurt and juices rounded out the buffet. All of the staff spoke great English and were very accommodating of our requests. The manager mentioned while speaking to us that they usually don't get tourist in this area, so he was glad to hear we enjoyed our stay. While I can't speak for all of the rooms, I can say that our room was Huge! (room 317) It appeared to have been two rooms combined during a past renovation and then included a bathroom which was nearly as large as the bedroom. The bath had a large tub, shower and plenty of room for two people to get ready at the same time. The bedroom had a sitting area with a small couch and coffee table and a desk as well as a large closet. Again, not all rooms were this large, but I think during the weekend, you'd have a better chance of getting these larger rooms. The hotel was very quiet and includes an elevator,we stayed on the fourth floor.
I would definitely stay here again when visiting this area, and would even stay here over the higher priced Kassel area.

Bad

A very bad service, my burger was half raw, I sent it back but there was no reply, I can't recommend this hotel, service was very unfriendly and the service was well, I'd rather not say anything about it but better avoid

Terrible.

Never have I been in one hotel with such poor rooms, the only thing worse was the food, completely overcooked meat, will not set foot there again. No recommendations from our side, it must be possible to do much better.

Wir waren auf der Durchreise und haben last Minute gebucht. Empfang war sehr nett. Leider hat man uns statt eines Doppel

We were passing through and booked last minute. The reception was nice. Unfortunately, instead of a double room (which we had paid for) they given us a single room with 1 pillow and smol blanket, as well 1 towel ect.
Dinner in restaurant was good, which cannot be said for the breakfast buffet. What surprised me most was that a cappuccino had to be paid separately, so not included in the breakfast, sincerly never hade this before

Afternoon cake - like grandma's!!

Despite a sad occasion saying goodbye to our uncle at the cemetery before we got to the hotel, the staff lifted our mood with their bright smiles and fabulous cake assortment! We were about forty people altogether and no one were left unattended. A bit warm without air conditioning.
